ABOUT THE MEET

Cornell gymnastics is set to compete in the upcoming eight-team championship event hosted by Penn at The Palestra. The Big Red, with a 15-12 record, enter the competition with momentum, having secured the Empire State Championship with a season-high score of 194.200. Led by Sydney Beers and Avery Byun, who finished first and second in the all-around at that meet, Cornell looks to make a statement in the postseason.

Penn (18-8)
As the tournament host, Penn brings a strong season record, including seven wins over Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) foes. The Quakers have already bested Cornell twice this season, once at the Ivy Classic and again in a dual meet on Feb. 2. Despite coming off a loss to West Virginia, Penn recorded its highest team score of the season and saw a program record on vault from Skyelar Kerico.

University of Bridgeport (14-11)
Bridgeport enters the competition following a season-high team score and a second-place finish on senior night. The Purple Knights have been fueled by standout performances, including Nova Staruk's impressive 9.825 on vault and Emily Hernandez's season-best 9.775 on bars. Cornell previously met Bridgeport twice this season, emerging victorious in both matchups.

Brown (12-9)
Brown has been in strong form, closing the regular season with a first-place finish at the Bridgeport Quad and a 194.275 team score, its fourth straight meet scoring above 194. The Bears have also made program history on beam, surpassing the 49-point mark twice this season, with sophomore Emily Ford tying the second-best all-time score in program history with a 9.900. The Big Red last faced Brown at the Ivy Classic.

Southern Connecticut State (4-13)
Cornell previously defeated the Owls at the Rutgers Quad earlier in the season. Southern Connecticut's standout performer, Kylie Sitty, was the team's highest scorer in their last meet, tying for third on vault with a 9.750.

West Chester (7-14)
The Big Red has already bested West Chester twice this season, most recently in a narrow 192.175-191.675 victory. Despite the loss, the Golden Rams took three of four events and set a season-high on floor, highlighted by Lily McFarland's career-best 9.900, which earned her GEC Gymnast of the Week honors.

William & Mary (7-11)
The Tribe recently faced three GEC opponents, falling to Brown and Bridgeport. Their strongest event was bars, where they tied for second with a 48.000. Individually, Sarah Wozniak (9.650 on bars) and Madeline Frazier (9.725 on beam) led the way with sixth-place finishes.

Yale (10-16)
Yale heads into the postseason with a season-high score of 195.125. The Bulldogs have already defeated Cornell twice this season at the Rumble and Tumble and the Ivy Classic. In their most recent meet, Ella Tashjian and Ellie Kearns both recorded season-bests on vault and floor, respectively, with identical 9.775 scores.

LAST TIME OUT

Cornell gymnastics secured a victory over West Chester on Friday morning in Pennsylvania, edging out their opponent 192.175-191.675 in a tightly contested meet. The Big Red delivered standout performances across all four events, with Addy Rothstein and Sydney Beers leading the way.

Rothstein had a career-best day, posting personal highs on both the bars (9.775) and floor (9.850), while Beers claimed the all-around title with a total score of 37.800, her strongest performance coming on vault.

Rothstein tied for first with a career-high score on the bars, while Morgen Shambo delivered a strong routine of her own, tying her season-best 9.750 to place third. The Big Red carried their momentum into the vault, where Beers took first place with a 9.750. Rothstein, Cami Whitaker, and Avery Byun followed closely behind, each scoring 9.650 to tie for second. Rothstein continued her stellar performance on the floor, earning her second career-best score of the day. She and Whitaker, who matched her own career-best 9.850, each placed fourth in the event. Cornell closed out the meet with a solid effort on the beam, where Byun and Beers tied for second place with identical scores of 9.725.
