ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team will look to capture its fourth consecutive MAISA Spring Women's Fleet Race Championship when it heads to Navy for the two-day event beginning on Saturday, March 29. The Big Red will also send sailors to Brown's Dellenbaugh Women's Team Racing event in Providence, R.I.

Cornell, ranked No. 4 in the latest ICSA rankings, will attempt to earn the conference's automatic bid to the ICSA Women's Team Racing Nationals and claim a fourth straight title in the process, a third under head coach Lior Lavie. The Big Red cruised to the title last spring with 67 total points, 13 ahead of runner-up Penn on nearby Seneca Lake. It will be among 15 programs looking to claim the conference crown, including nationally-ranked squads Georgetown (No. 5), Penn (No. 14) and Navy (No. 15).

The Big Red will also be among 12 team vying for the Dellenbaugh Trophy. Cornell finished fifth at the regatta last spring. In round one, Cornell bested Harvard, MIT, Tulane, and South Florida to advance to the silver bracket, which the Big Red then won after claiming four of six races, topping Bowdoin, Tulane, South Florida, and MIT.
