Zordani Departs For Wisconsin After Five Seasons Leading Big Red Women's Tennis

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Katie Zordani has announced her departure as the Carl H. Meinig '31 Head Coach of Women's Tennis at Cornell University. Zordani is set to join the coaching staff at the University of Wisconsin, a member of the Big Ten Conference. Assistant coach Wade Ward will continue in his role, planning and facilitating practices and team activities during the transition.

"Katie has cultivated a culture rooted in student-athlete well-being, accountability, and long-term growth - both on and off the court," said Dr. Nicki Moore, the Meakem & Smith Director of Athletics and Physical Education. "Thanks to her investment, Cornell women's tennis is coming off its most successful season since 2016–17 and is clearly a program on the rise."

Zordani recently completed her fifth season at the helm, posting a 34-50 overall record. In 2024-25, she led the Big Red to a 13-8 finish - the program's highest win total since capturing the Ivy League title in 2017. Her teams produced seven all-league selections, including two first-team singles players and three All-Ivy doubles pairings.

After three seasons as an assistant for the Big Red, Zordani took over as interim head coach in 2021-22 and immediately made an impact. That year's team posted wins over two nationally ranked opponents - No. 72 Buffalo and No. 43 Columbia - and recorded three Ivy League victories, tying the most by a first-year head coach in program history.
