ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's swimming and diving team fell to the Brown Bears 229-71 in a two-day meet on Friday and Saturday at Teagle Pool. The Big Red dropped to 2-6 on the season, while the Bears improved to 5-3.
The meet opened with the 200-yard medley relay, where Cornell's A relay of
Hojung Yoon,
Audrey Holden, Mingna Xu, and
Kate Li finished second in 1:41.98. Cornell also earned points with its B relay placing fifth.
In the distance freestyle events,
Erin DeHollander led the Big Red with a third-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, touching in 10:22.22.
Arina Vorobyeva followed in fifth. DeHollander later added a fifth-place finish in the 500 freestyle, while
Jungmin Yoon placed fourth in the event.
Kate Li recorded a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.11), while
Natalia Strezenicky Franko and
Jasmine Xu added fifth- and sixth-place finishes, respectively. In the backstroke events,
Ming Xu placed second in the 100 back (55.25), and
Rosalee Springer finished third in the 200 back (2:00.24).
Audrey Holden led Cornell in the breaststroke events, placing second in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.40) and sixth in the 200 breaststroke.
Katie Ferreira added a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, while
Hojung Yoon placed third in the 200 breaststroke.
In butterfly action,
Katherine Yee finished fourth in the 200 butterfly, and
Oceane Vanlinthout placed fourth in the 100 butterfly.
Madeline Ferreira added a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly.
Cornell earned points on the boards in both diving events.
Lilla Kuziemko placed second on the 3-meter with a score of 288.38, while
Morgan Ogata finished third. Ogata again led the Big Red on the 1-meter, placing second with a score of 267.15, followed by Kuziemko in third.
The Big Red closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the team of
Rosalee Springer,
Arina Vorobyeva,
Kate Li, and
Jungmin Yoon touched in 3:24.16.

The Cornell women's swimming and diving team will return to action on Wednesday, February 18tth for the Ivy League Championships. The Big Red will take the pool for four days of competitions at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The meet will be broadcast on ESPN+.
