ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's hockey team remained undefeated on the season, picking up a 3-1 victory over visiting Dartmouth on Saturday night at Lynah Rink. The Big Red jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two periods and held on for its fourth win of the season.

Michael Kennedy, Tyler Roeszler and Justin Krueger each scored a goal for the Big Red (4-0-2, 4-0-2 ECAC Hockey) as Cornell knocked off the Big Green (5-3-0, 5-2-0 ECAC Hockey), which had entered the game in a tie with Princeton for first place in ECAC Hockey. Joe Scali added a pair of assists for his first career multi-point game, with goaltender Ben Scrivens stopping 27 shots in his fourth victory of the year.

Dartmouth's goal came courtesy of a mess in front of the Cornell goal at the 3:54 mark of the third period as Doug Jones scored his first career goal by getting a stick on a bouncing puck in front of the Cornell goal. Later in the period, back-to-back penalties on Jared Seminoff and Brendon Nash gave the Green 1:51 worth of 5-on-3, but the Cornell penalty killing units of Riley Nash, Michael Kennedy and Justin Krueger, along with Joe Scali, Evan Barlow and Mike Devin, held Dartmouth to just five total shots on the man advantage, each of which was saved by Scrivens. Scrivens even went to his side in a field hockey fashion to stop a pair of shots on that power play.

Kennedy's goal came at the 2:38 mark of the first period. Joe Devin sent the puck in from the far boards, where it was chipped into the air by a Dartmouth defenseman. Kennedy caught the puck and dropped it to his stick before flipping a shot on goal, only to be saved by Dartmouth goaltender Jody O'Neill. The rebound, however, came off a Dartmouth defenseman and onto the stick of Kennedy, who jammed the puck inside the post for a 1-0 lead.

In the second period, Roeszler was the beneficiary of another rebound, this time off a shot from Seminoff. The rebound came right onto his stick and he slipped the puck inside the post to stake a 2-0 lead. Three minutes later, Cornell went up 3-0 when Justin Krueger's shot from the point found its way through a mess of traffic in front before caroming off a Dartmouth defenseman and over the shoulder of O'Neill.

O'Neill would finish the game with 26 saves, 14 of them coming in the second period alone when Cornell out-shot the Big Green, 16-2. In the third period, the roles were reversed as Dartmouth out-shot Cornell, 18-4. Cornell concluded the game 1-for-4 on the power play while holding Dartmouth without a goal in four man advantage opportunities.

Cornell steps out of league action next weekend, traveling to North Dakota for a two-game set with the Fighting Sioux. Game one will be on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen throughout the United States on the NHL Network.
