ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Taking the first nine places in the 360-athlete Rochester Invitational on Saturday, the Big Red women's cross country team ran to an authoratative victory for the second week in a row.

Junior Rachel Sorna was the race winner for Cornell, finishing the six-kilometer course in 20:47.3. Four seconds behind her was senior co-captain Katie Kellner, crossing the line in 20:51.3. Emily Shearer and Devin McMahon were next for Cornell, taking third and fourth place overall, and they were followed by freshman Caroline Kellner in 21:20.6.

Sixth and seventh place went to seniors Katie Rosettie and Genna Hartung, and freshmen Claire DeVoe and Dina Iacone were right behind them for eighth and ninth. Tenth place was home to the first non-Cornell finisher, Ella Martin of St. Lawrence.

The Big Red ended the morning with 15 points -- the lowest possible score -- and defeated its next closest opponent in St. Lawrence by 60 points. Twenty-four of the Big Red's 28 total athletes finished in the top 50 of the race.

Cornell has next weekend off before racing in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on Sept. 28.
