ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's tennis team went 9-3 in singles and swept three doubles matches in the final day of the Cornell Showdown on Sunday at Reis Tennis Center. No team scores are kept.
The Big Red started the day by winning the bottom four of six singles matches against George Washington. All four of the Cornell victories were in straight sets, including a 6-0, 6-1 decision from sophomore
Alexandra D'Ascenzo at the No. 5 spot.
The rest of Cornell's day featured matches against Youngstown State. It started off with a sweep of three doubles matches, making the Big Red 6-0 in doubles over the weekend. D'Ascenzo and freshman
Priyanka Shah had the easiest victory, winning at the No. 2 position, 8-3.

Marika Cusick all won their second tilts of the day. Junior
Dena Tanenbaum also survived a first-set tiebreaker before winning her No. 1 match in straight sets.
Up next for the Big Red is a trip to the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships in New Haven, Conn. The event runs from Thursday to Tuesday, Oct. 21.
