AKRON, Ohio — The women's tennis wrapped up a dominating weekend at the Akron Invitational on Sunday. The Big Red closed the week with an 8-1 record in doubles and 14-3 mark in singles.

Marika Cusick and freshmen
Priyanka Shah and
Lizzie Stewart each won both a singles match and doubles match. Paired up against Akron in doubles, Cornell swept three matches — including 8-1 decisions from Cusick and Shah at No. 2 and freshmen
Allegra Hanlon and
Madison Stevens at No. 3.
In singles, Cornell won five of six matches against Michigan State. Tanenbaum cruised at the No. 1 spot, dropping just four games against Erin Faulkner. Shah also cruised at the No. 2 position, topping her opponent, 6-0, 6-4. Cusick also won in straight sets at No. 4, winning a pair of tiebreakers. Stewart (No. 3) and sophomore
Kristin Quill (No. 6) won their respective matches by responding from second-set losses to come out on top in super-tiebreakers.
The Big Red returns to action next weekend when it plays host to its second tournament of the fall season. The Cornell Showdown is scheduled for Friday through Sunday at Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y.
