PRINCETON, N.J. – Cornell women's hockey was extremely well-represented in the Ivy League postseason awards that were released this afternoon by the league office. Senior captain
Brianne Jenner was tabbed the Ivy League Player of the Year, while standout freshman blue-liner
Erin O'Connor was selected the league's Rookie of the Year. Seniors
Jillian Saulnier and
Emily Fulton joined the aforementioned pair as selections on All-Ivy teams.
Jenner capped her fantastic Cornell career with another excellent season. She led the conference in points, tallying 14 goals and a league-high 31 assists during the regular season. The Ivy League Player of the Year is the second time she has been tabbed as the league's top player, as she also won the award in 2013.
Jenner was also named a First Team All-Ivy selection, becoming just the 12
th player in the history of the League to earn the recognition four times since the Ivy League started selecting all league teams at the conclusion of the 1978-79 season. She joins Kim Ratushny (1989-92) and Rebecca Johnston (2008-11) as the other Cornell players to achieve the accomplishment.
O'Connor has been a stalwart addition to Cornell's defense in her debut season. She led all league freshmen with seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points during the regular season. The young blue-liner also seamlessly stepped into a key role as the squad's point pivot on Cornell's potent powerplay unit. She finished with four powerplay goals and 11 powerplay points on the season. She currently ranks sixth among all Division I blue-liners in points.
In addition to being named the Ivy League's top freshman player, O'Connor earned Second Team All-Ivy recognition.
Senior forward
Emily Fulton joined Jenner as a First Team All-Ivy selection. She was Cornell's top goal scorer this season, leading the League with 20 goals on the year, while finishing second to Jenner with 42 points overall. She finished with a league-best 1.56 points per game average in Ivy League contests. The First Team selection is the second of her Cornell career, as she also garnered First Team recognition last season.
Senior winger
Jillian Saulnier joined O'Connor as a Second Team All-Ivy selection this season. Although she missed the better part of six-games during the regular season, she still finished third in the Ivy League with 37 points. Saulnier played a huge role down the stretch, as she averaged 2.00 points per game over the final nine contests to conclude the season.
