With junior
Cassandra Poudrier off for a tripping minor with 2:46 to play, the Tigers held the powerplay for the majority of what remained of regulation. Despite the time of the game, Cornell continued to play its aggressive penalty killing style that has been such a boon to the Big Red this season. Sophomore
Hanna Bunton moved into the Princeton zone with freshman
Erin O'Connor trailing the play in a two-on-one. Koelzer made an excellent stick-check to strip the puck and start the rush the other way. She made a heads up play to chip the puck to herself off the wall to elude senior
Emily Fulton; moving into the Cornell zone on a three-on-one. She made a patient play to hold the puck as long as she could, before sending it to Hilary Lloyd in the slot for the eventual game-winner.
Senior
Emily Fulton remained scorching hot, tallying her conference leading 18
th and 19
th goals of the season – both on the powerplay – in the loss. Seniors
Brianne Jenner and
Jillian Saulnier each collected a pair of assists. With the two-points Jenner moved past Cindy Warren (1977-81) for second place on the program's all-time point list, while she also passed Cheryl Hines (1976-80) for second in all-time assists. She now sits at 218 points and 127 assists for her career.
Sophomore netminder
Paula Voorheis (L, 12-8-3) made 30 saves in just her second losing effort since before Thanksgiving.
The Big Red jumped out to an early lead on Fulton's third powerplay goal in the last three games. With Ali Pankowski off for interference with 6:35 to go in the period, Cornell (14-8-3, 12-4-2 ECAC Hockey, 5-3 Ivy League) sent out its vaunted powerplay unit. The Big Red took seven seconds to connect. Saulnier won the faceoff clean to Jenner at the left half wall. Jenner saucer passed the puck over to Fulton just above the right circle. She ripped a wrister that deflected off Fiona McKenna's skate and past Princeton (13-10-2, 10-6-1 ECAC Hockey, 6-1 Ivy League) goaltender Kimberly Newell.
Cassidy Tucker equalized the game for the Tigers in the middle period with an unassisted tally off a net front scrum.
Fulton reestablished the lead early in the third period. With 1:31 of carry-over powerplay time, the Big Red struck again with the advantage. Saulnier sent a cross-ice feed to Jenner, who one-touched a pass to Fulton in the slot. She toe-dragged the puck, before firing a rising wrister past Newell with just 1:20 gone in the period.
Pankowski tied the game for the Tigers 7:07 later. She fired a puck from the left point that took a deflection off a Cornell defender and ducked and dived over the shoulder of Voorheis.
Lloyd completed the Tiger comeback to take command of first place in the Ivy League.
Cornell will return to action next Friday when it kicks off Senior Weekend with a matchup against Harvard. Puck drop is scheduled at 7 p.m., while the Big Red will take-on Dartmouth the following afternoon at Lynah Rink.
