TOWSON, Md. – The baseball team jumped out to four-run lead Wednesday at Towson, but couldn't hang on in an 11-5 non-league loss at Schuerholz Park. Cornell falls to 6-14 on the season.

Dan Morris was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and classmate
Kevin Tatum was 2-for-5 with two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to nine games. The first run he drove in came on a single in the first inning, then senior
Spencer Scorza followed with a base hit to score Morris and give Cornell an early 2-0 lead.

After Towson got on the board with its only run against Big Red senior starter
Zach McCulley in his four innings of work, Cornell struck back with two more runs in the fourth. Freshman
Pierre Le Dorze, making his first collegiate start, drove in senior
Ryan Karl with a groundout. Sophomore
Tommy Wagner then took advantage of a dropped flyball off the bat of senior
Matt Hall to score another run. In the fifth inning, Tatum singled to left to plate Morris and give Cornell a 5-1 lead.

But it was all Towson (6-20) from there, which used 10 unanswered runs to propel itself to a victory in the programs' first-ever meeting. Peter Bowles was 4-for-5 with three RBIs.

Cornell is scheduled to return to Ivy League play this weekend with the final four interdivision games. The Big Red takes on reigning Red Rolfe Division champion Dartmouth at noon Saturday, then moves on to Harvard for two more games at noon Sunday.
