NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Sophomore Liad Hare won both of his matches this weekend, but the men's squash team suffered losses to Drexel and George Washington at the Yale Round Robin. The Big Red fell to Drexel, 6-3, on Saturday, before coming up on the wrong end of a 5-4 affair against GW on Sunday at Brady Squash Center.
 
Cornell (3-6), which was ranked 12th in the country by the Collegiate Squash Association entering the weekend, was swept in the opening rotation by the ninth-ranked Dragons. The match would ultimately come down to the final three matches after Hare won at No. 8 and freshman Perry Hanson came out on top at No. 2 — both in four sets. Senior tri-captain Graham Dietz accounted for the final Big Red point by winning at No. 7 in three sets, but Drexel went on to defeat Cornell for the first time in their programs' histories.
 
The same could be said about #13 George Washington, which won the top four matches in the order. Cornell got the better of the opening two rotations, building a 4-2 lead via three-set victories from Hare (No. 8), junior Kevin Flannery (No. 6), sophomore Jordan Brail (No. 5) and freshman Ben Francis (No. 9). The Colonials then swept the final rotation to lock up the victory.
 
Cornell returns home for Ivy League matches next weekend against Dartmouth at noon Saturday and Harvard at 11 a.m. Sunday at Belkin International Squash Courts in Ithaca, N.Y.
