PRINCETON, N.J. — Junior
Harry Freeman won at the No. 1 position in five sets to put the finishing touch on the men's squash team's 5-4 victory Friday at Princeton. The win was just Cornell's fifth in 52 all-time meetings with the Tigers.
Cornell (4-8, 2-4 Ivy League), ranked 12th in the country by the College Squash Association, jumped out to an early lead in a match using a five-court rotation. Awarded the day's first point because of injury default at No. 8.
Jordan Brail won in three sets at No. 4, and Gustav Runersjö won going away in four sets at No. 2 to stake the Big Red to a 3-1 lead.
Senior
Graham Dietz won in three sets at No. 7, but 13th-ranked Princeton (3-10, 1-5) rallied elsewhere to put the balance of the match on Freeman. His opponent fought off three match balls to tie the score at 10 in the fifth, but Freeman won the next point and took the match on a stroke call.
The Big Red will play its final road match of the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday, when it visits 11th-ranked Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, Pa. Cornell then returns home for a Senior Day doubleheader on Sunday, starting off with a noon match against Penn followed by a 5 p.m. night cap against Hobart at Belkin International Squash Courts in Ithaca, N.Y.
