LANCASTER, Pa. — The men's squash team has put itself in position to improve its national ranking after an 8-1 victory over Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon. Cornell (5-8) entered the weekend ranked 12th, one spot behind F&M (7-8).
From the middle three spots in the order,
Jordan Brail,
Andy Muran and
Kevin Flannery all won their respective matches in three sets. Cornell also came out on top in each of the day's five-set matches. Among them was junior
Harry Freeman, winning in that fashion for a second straight day. Freshmen
Perry Hanson (No. 3) and
Alex Jung (No. 8) fought back from behind to win their matches in five.
With the win, Cornell improves to 25-23 in the all-time series. The Big Red returns home for a Senior Day doubleheader on Sunday at Belkin International Squash Courts. The Big Red takes on second-ranked Penn at noon in its final Ivy League match of the season before wrapping up the regular season with a contest against 23rd-ranked Hobart at 5 p.m.
