ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's tennis team rolled to its third consecutive 7-0 victory on Saturday, sweeping visiting Marist at Reis Tennis Center.
Cornell roared to the doubles point by losing just four games over the three matches, then all six singles matches were decided in straight sets. Junior
Marika Cusick had the most dominant victory, winning 6-1, 6-0 from the No. 1 position. Sophomore
Priyanka Shah (No. 4) and freshman
Michelle Wang (No. 5) each lost just two games in their respective matches, and senior
Jane Stewart won her tilt at No. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
The victory is the fifth straight for Cornell (10-5), which will close out the non-league portion of its schedule at 2 p.m. Sunday against regional rival Binghamton. The 10 wins to date are already the second-most for the Big Red in
Mike Stevens' six years as the Carl H. Meing '31 Head Coach of Women's Tennis.
