Princeton Sweeps Volleyball, 3-0

PRINCETON, N.J. – For the first time since mid-September, the Big Red volleyball team was swept by an opponent, falling to the Ivy League leader Princeton, 3-0, this evening at Dillon Gymnasium. The Tigers won in straight sets, 25-16, 25-21, 25-17, handing Cornell its first 3-0 loss since its game at Colgate on Sept. 16.
 
Cornell (10-11, 6-6 Ivy) played well throughout the match, hitting .234 as a team thanks to solid performances from Jenna Phelps (.533; 9-1-15) and Kit McCarty (.429; 7-1-14), who finished with nine and seven kills, respectively. Jada Stackhouse also had an efficient night hitting .364 (5-1-11) to go along with four total blocks (three solo). 
 
Samanta Arenas had a team-high 10 digs, while Kiley McPeek finished with nine and setters Zoe Chamness and Chelsea Sincox tallied 15 and 11 assists, respectively.
 
Princeton (16-6, 9-3 Ivy) hit .368 as a team, the best hitting percentage of any Cornell opponent this season with Caroline Sklaver (11-2-16) and Maggie O'Connell (10-0-23) combining to hit .487.
 
Maddie Huber (14) and Alexa Underwood (12) tallied double-digits digs, while setter Jessie Harris handed out 37 assists.
 
The Big Red will play its final games of the regular season when it hosts Yale and Brown on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m., respectively. Cornell will honor the program's five seniors – Kit McCarty, Kiley McPeek, Chelsea Sincox, Maddy Stroufe and Emily Wemhoff – during its Senior Night ceremony prior to the contest with the Bears.
