ITHACA, N.Y. — Sophomore Michelle Wang, and freshmen Ananya Dua and Maria Perez de la Llave all recorded their first singles victories of the dual match season, and the women's team sailed to a pair of 7-0 victories on Sunday against Stony Brook and Niagara at Reis Tennis Center.
 
Cornell, which was ranked 62nd in the country this week by Slam.Tennis, improves to 8-4 with the victories. The Big Red did not concede any points to its opposition in three victories this weekend at Reis. On Sunday, Cornell swept the four doubles matches played to completion and won 11 of 12 singles clashes in straight sets.
 
In the opening match, the Big Red improved to 6-0 all-time against Stony Brook (2-4). The Seawolves have received most of their points from the top of the singles order this season, but Cornell dominated for those positions on Sunday to power the sweep. Junior Priyanka had the cleanest victory for the Big Red, 6-2, 6-0 from the No. 3 position, and seniors Marika Cusick and Alexandra D'Ascenzo cruised from the top two spots. Freshman Dua competed at No. 6 and won for the first time in a collegiate dual match.
 
The Big Red then rested Cusick and D'Ascenzo for the day's second match against Niagara (1-8). After locking up the doubles point, Cornell cruised to a 3-0 lead behind love-love victories from junior Madison Stevens (No. 3) and Wang (No. 5). Perez de la Llave clinched the match at No. 6 in her first dual-match appearance.
 
Cornell enters an idle stretch of 17 days before its final two non-league matches in preparation for the Ivy League season in April.
