ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell sailing can harken back to 1935, when dinghys cast off on Cayuga Lake pre-dating even the first ICSA championships. Though many in the varsity family only became familiar with the program when the women were elevated to varsity status in 2014, more than eight decades of proud and storied history precedes this year's team.
That's what makes head coach Brian Clancy's eyes get a little wider when he talks about the accomplishments of this year's group. For the first time in program history, Cornell has qualified to compete in all three national team events – the Sperry College Sailing Women's Championships, the LaserPerformance College Sailing Team Race National Championship and the Gill College Coed Sailing National Championships.
