This game is one of 13 out of 17 games on the Big Red's schedule to be broadcast on ESPN+, including all Cornell home games and all Ivy League road games.

About the Big Red
The Big Red is off to its best start since 2014 when the field hockey team had just one loss after seven games. Cornell has had a 5-2 start this season with wins against #18 Syracuse (2-1, 9/7), Lock Haven (2OT) (3-2, 9/8), Lafayette (4-1, 9/23), Colgate (4-1, 10/1) and Columbia (2OT SO) (1-0, 10/5).
Cornell is also having its best offensive season, so far, since 2016 with 17 goals in the first seven games.
Junior forward
Grace Royer leads the team with 13 points on five goals and three assists. She scored goals against Lafayette (2), Penn (2), and Colgate. She notched assists against Syracuse, Lafayette and Colgate.
Freshman midfielder
Caroline Ramsey follows Royer with eight points on four goals. She scored goals against Syracuse, Lock Haven, Lafayette and Colgate.
Sophomore forward
Claire Jones is a close third for points with seven on two goals and three assists. The sophomore scored two game-winning goals in the first weekend and has assisted on goals against Penn and Colgate.

Maddie Henry's five wins on the season have led her to the runner-up position in Cornell's career record list. She needs six more wins to pass

- The Big Red opened October-play with a mid-week 4-1 win on the road against Colgate (10/1). Freshman Caroline Ramsey scored the first goal of the game as fellow freshman Bridget Mahoney, junior Grace Royer and junior Julianne Mangano followed with goals of their own. Sophomore Claire Jones, senior Kirsten Ferguson, junior Juliana Tardif and Royer assisted on the goals, respectively.
- Cornell added an Ivy League win with a 2-overtime, shootout victory against Columbia (10/5). The scoreless game led to a shootout in which Grace Royer made the only successful attempt for a 1-0 Big Red win.
About Yale
- Playing four ranked teams so far, #16 Liberty, #6 Virginia, #16 Harvard and #12 Princeton, the Bulldogs have won just two of their first nine games. Most recently, Yale lost to Drezel (10/6), 2-1, and, in overtime, lost to #12 Princeton (10/4), 4-3.
- Within the Ivy League, the Bulldogs have played and fallen to two ranked teams in the league, #16 Harvard, 2-1, and #12 Princeton, 4-3.

The Series vs Yale
- The Big Red first played the Bulldogs in 1979, the first official season of Ivy League play, with a 3-0 Yale victory.
- Despite not winning an early contest until 1987, Cornell leads the series 22-18-1.
- In recent years the match-up has been extremely competitive with 19 of the last 23 meetings being decided by one goal.
- In 2018, Yale went home with a 1-0 overtime victory.
About California-Berkeley
- Playing six ranked teams so far, #7 Michigan (9/8), #7 Iowa (9/13), #2 Duke (9/14), #16 Stanford (9/20), #12 Delaware (9/27) and #14 Syracuse (10/4), the Bears have won just four of their first 11 games. Most recently, Cal lost to Syracuse, 4-3, in double-overtime and beat Central Michigan (10/6), 8-1.
- Junior forward Megan Rodgers leads the team with 15 points on six goals and three assists. The junior scored two goals against Central Michigan and notched one goal and one assist against Syracuse.
- Senior forward Katrina Carter closely follows with 13 points on six goals and one assist. The senior also scored two goals against Central Michigan and notched one goal and one assist against Syracuse.
- Junior goalkeeper Natalie Dalton leads the Bear goalies with 568 minutes and 27 seconds. Dalton has made 60 saves for a .698 save percentage.
The Series vs California-Berkeley
- Cornell has only played against California-Berkeley twice. The Big Red and the Bears met for the first time in 1991 with a Cal win.
- The most recent meeting was in 2000 for a 2-1 Big Red victory.
National Appeal
- The Big Red has eight different states, as well as Canada and South Africa, represented on the team of 23.
- For the first year New Jersey ties Pennsylvania as the most represented state. Pennsylvania has been the most represented state since 2015. A total of 10 players call New Jersey or Pennsylvania home, five each. The other states with multiple representatives are New York (3) and Texas (2), plus one student-athletes from Connecticut, Maine, Maryland and Texas.
- There are three international student-athletes as well, two from British Columbia, Canada
- and one from South Africa.
- In addition to our athletes, we have two coaches from California (Hurff and Dempsey), one from Delaware (Orozco) and head coach Andy Smith hails from Doncaster, England.
- After serving as the head coach of the field hockey team at the University of the Pacific, Smith was named the head coach of the Cornell field hockey team in May of 2019.
- Smith comes to East Hill after leading the Pacific Tigers to four regular season conference titles in six seasons. Smith also coached four student athletes to All-American honors, in addition to five athletes being selected to participate in FIH World level events.
- Smith brings a new staff of assistant coaches to Cornell this season. Laura Hurff and Johnny Orozco joined the Big Red staff as assistant coaches after successful stints in their respective USA National Teams. Taylor Dempsey joins the team as a volunteer assistant coach after a decorated playing career at the University of the Pacific.
