PRINCETON, N.J. – The Cornell men's track and field team sits in sixth place with eight points through the first day of competition at the Outdoor Heptagonal Championship at Princeton's Weaver Stadium. Cornell had five finals qualifiers in the preliminary rounds of their events to go along with four scoring efforts. Thus far, just five of 22 total events have gone final.

Cornell had two scoring efforts in the long jump. Senior
Oseoba Airewele finished fifth with a leap of 7.30m, while sophomore
Sam Oravec rounded out the scoring with a sixth place mark of 7.23m.
In the men's hammer throw, sophomore
Zeke Cohen placed fourth with a heave of 58.30m, while freshman
Ian Frost took sixth place with a mark of 57.35m.
Senior Zach Menacha qualified in for the finals in both the 100m (10.56) and the 200m (21.35). Joining Menacha in the finals on Sunday in the 200m will be classmate
Alex Beck, who took the last qualifying spot with a time of 21.54.

Austin Lyons ran a personal best time of 13.99 in the 110m hurdles, which was second in the preliminary round.
In the 1500m, senior
Roc Johnson earned a spot in the finals with a time of 3:51.39.
Through the first five events of the decathlon, junior Clayton Jeffery sits in sixth place with 3537 points. His top finish thus far came in the high jump, as he cleared 1.88m, which was tied for the second best mark.
Competition will resume Sunday beginning with the 110m hurdles portion of the decathlon at 10 a.m. The meet will be broadcast on ESPN+.
