ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell Sailing continued its historic run this past weekend when it finished third at the Women's ACC Finals, a program-best finish. This came after the Big Red finished second at the Women's ACC Semifinals, and seventh at the Coed ACC Semifinals, both which also were program-best finishes. The Big Red also competed in the David Lee Arnoff Trophy and Nevins Trophy, where the team placed third and 13th, respectively.
In Division A of the ACC finals, the Big Red finished atop the leader board.
Bridget Green, who skippered all 12 races, was aided by
Sophia Mulvania and
Amelia Neumann, who spit time at crew, finished in the top-two in four races, including a first-place finish in race eight.
Winborne Majette, who skippered races 1-4 and 9-12 in Division B, split time with
Sophia Devling who skippered races 5-8.
Sophia Pearce and
Kit Harned took turns crewing the boat for the Big Red. The group finished sixth in the division, and had a best race finish of second in race two.
In Geneva, N.Y., the Big Red finished third in the A Division of the David Lee Arnoff Trophy Regatta.
Lauren Ehnot and Wynne Williams teamed up for all 12 races, finishing a team-best first in the 11th race of the weekend. Cornell finished fourth in Division B, with a split effort from
Maya Conway and
Clara Hewson, who skippered and crewed races 1-6, and Aidan Lane and
Maeve Katics, who took races 7-12.
In Kings Point, N.Y.,
J.J. Smith partnered with
Kate Moran for races one and two, and Boris Bialer for races 3-10 to combine for a seventh-place finish in Division A.
Pilar Cundey served as the skipper for all 12 races in Division B, and was aided by Bialer, Moran, and
Lucija Ruzevic at crew. The group finished 16th in the division.
The Big Red is back to the waters this weekend for a program-first appearance at the ACC Open Finals. The regatta is set to be held on October 21-22 in St. Mary's City, Md.
