ITHACA, N.Y. -- For the second consecutive weekend, Cornell sailing has worked towards a program-best finish. The Big Red secured a seventh-place finish at the Open ACC semifinals, earning a big the the team's first-ever ACC Open Finals set for October 21-22. The Big Red also placed 10th at the Stu Nelson Women's Regatta this weekend.
Bridget Green skippered all 14 races for the Big Red in Division A at the ACC Open semifinals held in Cambridge, Mass.
Sophia Mulvania and
Kit Harned split time as her skipper. The team finished fifth overall, finishing first in two races across the weekend. In Division B,
Sophia Devling skippered for the Big Red, while she was aided by
Amelia Neumann,
Sophia Pearce, and
Kit Harned who rotated in the crew role. They collectively finished 10th overall, including a second place finish in race 11.
At the Stu Nelson Women's Regatta, held in New London, Conn.,
Lauren Ehnot and
Kate Moran combined efforts in Division A to finish 10th. They placed sixth in the 10th race of the weekend. In Division B,
J.J. Smith and
Maeve Katics combined for an eighth place effort in the B Division, finishing third in the sixth race of the weekend. In Division C,
Pilar Cundey and
Lucija Ruzevic sailed to a seventh-place finish, finishing in the top-three in two races.
The Big Red hit the water against this weekend for the Women's ACC finals and David Lee Arnoff Trophy Regatta, both beginning on Saturday, October 14.
