NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Cornell women's sailing wrapped up its 2023-24 fall campaign with a fourth and 12th-place finish in the Singlehanded National Championships held in New Orleans, La.
Lucija Ruzevic grabbed the fourth-place finish and
Lauren Ehnot finished 12th. The finishes marked the best since the 2021-22 season, when Cornell placed third and fifth.
Day one faced the sailors with changing winds and challenging waters. Ruzevic had a day-best finish of second in the troubling waters in the seventh race. Ehnot saw her best finishes in the troubling waters with a third-place finish in the fifth race. Day two opened with similar conditions, but settled throughout the day. Ruzevic found her rhythm, finishing atop the group three times in day two in races eight, 10, and 12. Ruzevic finished with 87 points, only 13 shy of first place.
The Big Red will return to the waters in the spring for team racing.
