Equestrian Advances To Zones After Securing High Point at Regionals

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell equestrian team secured high-point team for the second week in a row this weekend at Regionals. With this win, Cornell's Equestrian Team has qualified eight riders for Zones across multiple events.
 
Cornell ended the day with eight podium finishes allowing seven riders to move onto Zones (semifinals) in individual events. The day opened with Claudia Arredondo taking home a first-place finish in the Introductory Hunter Seat, allowing her to be the first Cornellian of the day to secure a spot at Zones. Emily Pecsok would be the next rider to join her after securing a first place finish in the Novice Hunter Seat. She was followed by Annalisa Piscitelli who took home sixth. The next podium for Cornell would come in the Limit Hunter Seat on the Flat which was ridden by Taylor Haines and Alexandra Miranda. Haines secured second and Miranda brought home fifth. Two riders advanced to Zones in the Intermediate Hunter Seat on the Flat with Katherine Philipp and Biance Garcia finishing first and second respectively. The Intermediate Hunter Seat over Fences also two riders advance to Zones with Alexandra Miranda bringing home second and Bianca Garcia securing her second podium of the day with a first-place finish. Isabel Hall wrapped up the event with a fourth-place finish. The day ended with the Posie Price becoming the final rider to advance to zones when she brought in a second-place finish in the Open Hunter Seat over fences. Price finished second in the Cacchione Cup race, the annual award for the rider who tallied the most points in the open division.

The Big Red's next competition comes Saturday, April 8th when the team travels to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to compete against Skidmore College.
