ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's tennis team welcomes No. 72-ranked Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend to the Reis Tennis Center in its final two home matches of the season. Both contests will begin with doubles action at 1 p.m.

This weekend will mark the final home matches for seniors Ashley Huang and Fatima El Ashram.

Cornell is looking for its first Ivy League victory of the season as it has opened Ancient Eight play with three consecutive losses.

Last weekend, the Big Red fell to Penn, 4-2, at home before being swept on the road by No. 48-ranked Princeton, 4-0. Sophomore Lan Mi and freshman Emma Baker were victorious in their singles matches against the Quakers last Friday.

Mi has shined this year at No. 1 singles, posting a 13-2 record and has won her last five completed matches.

Scouting Harvard

The Crimson have a 10-8 overall record and are 2-1 in Ivy League contests this season.

Harvard is winless on the road, going 0-4 away from Cambridge, Mass. Three of the four losses have come against Power Five opponents in LSU, Penn State, and then-No. 4-ranked Duke. The other setback came to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on March 16.

Charlotte Owensby is the only Crimson player to be ranked in the ITA's top 125 singles rankings, coming in at No. 116.

Cornell has lost its last six matches against Harvard, as the Big Red is seeking its first win against the Crimson since a 4-3 triumph in Ithaca on April 15, 2017.

The Big Red lost to Harvard, 4-0, earlier this year in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Indoor Championships in Hanover, N.H., on Feb. 10.

Scouting Dartmouth

Dartmouth enters this weekend with a 4-11 overall record and a 0-3 mark in Ancient Eight play.

Like Harvard, the Big Green have also lost all four of its road matches this season. Dartmouth's losses have come to Boston University, then-No. 42-ranked USC, then-No. 69-ranked Harvard, and Yale.

The Big Green have lost eight of its last nine, with the lone victory coming against Division II school Arkansas Tech, 6-1, in La Jolla, Calif., on March 22.

Cornell defeated Dartmouth last year, 4-3, in regular-season action in Hanover, N.H. The Big Red fell to the Big Green, 4-1, earlier this year on Feb. 11 in one of the semifinal matches of the ECAC Indoor Championships consolation bracket.

Looking Ahead

The Big Red will conclude its regular-season slate with a pair of road matches against Brown and Yale next weekend.
