ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell equestrian team recorded a nearly perfect score of 47 points at the Ivy Show Championship, taking home High Point.
The show opened with qualifying rounds for each event where riders could display their skill and compare how they rank against their competition. Cornell set the tone for the day by dominating these events, taking first place in eight of the nine qualifying rounds and bringing in a combined 25 podium finishes due to multiple ties.
The first championship deciding event was the Open Fences which saw three riders from Cornell compete.
Posie Price was the best finisher for the Big Red when she secured second overall.
Isabel Hall and
Alexandra Miranda were next up for Cornell, finishing fourth and sixth respectively. Following the Open Fences Championship was the Open Flat Championship, in which
Katherine Philipp took home the first of many blue ribbons for the Big Red.
Bianca Garcia earned yet another podium for the team by finishing third in the event.
Cornell would go on to sweep the next five championship events, earning the maximum number of points possible for the team.
Riley Gerardo secured first in the Intermediate Fences Championship with
Katherine Philipp taking second and
Lauren Aubert finishing off the podium spots with third.
Riley Gerardo would continue her gold medal spree in the Intermediate Flat Championship, taking first place and sharing the podium with
Taylor Haines in second and
Alexandra Miranda in third.
Jillian Steinmetz would be the next gold medalist for Cornell after taking first overall in the Limit Fences Championship. She would be closely followed by
Gillian Roche who took second and
Caly Stewart who secured third. In the Limit Flat Championship, Cornell would take the top-four places in
Jianna Simcik (1
st),
Emily Pecsok (2
nd),
Clara Beck (3
rd) and
Annalisa Piscitelli (4
th). The final event that Cornell would sweep would be the Novice Championship which saw
Caroline Gaudet take home the gold. She would be followed by
Natalie Morris in second and
Claudia Arredondo in third.
Lauren Benson would finish off the dominating day for Cornell by taking first in the Introductory Championship.

Emily Pecsok will represent the Big Red equestrian team at the IHSA National Championships in Lexington Kentucky on May 2 – May 6. She will be riding for glory in the Novice Division.
