ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell sailing used a first-place finish in Division B to wrap up a seventh-place overall spot at the Admiral's Cup on Sunday evening in Kings Point, N.Y. Elsewhere, in Cambridge, Mass., Cornell sits in sixth place after day one at the ICSA Women's Team Racing Nationals.
In Division A of the Admiral's Cup,
Lauren Ehnot,
Clara Hewson, and Wynne Williams combined for a tenth-place finish with 90 points.
Pilar Cundey and Boris Bialer were the perfect duo in the B Division, combining for a division-low 37 points to claim the number one spot. They scored combined for a 127-point finish, good for seventh overall. The 127 points finished just one point off of the Webb Institute, which finished sixth, and two points shy of Boston University, which finished fifth.
At nationals, Cornell's sixth-place finish after one day of racing comes off the heels of a four-win, three-loss day with the performances by
Winborne Majette,
Bridget Green, and
Sophia Devling as skippers and
Amelia Neumann,
Sophia Mulvania, and
Sophia Pearce as crew. The sextet is back to the waters tomorrow where the team looks to continue to climb the ranks on the national stage. Fans at home can catch the action on ESPN+.
