Beers Finished in the Top 5 in the All Around Alongside Multiple Top 10 Finishes at UC Davis

DAVIS, Cal. – Cornell gymnastics ended in third place at UC Davis with a score of 193.500 on Sunday night.

The Big Red took the win against Alaska (192.500) but fell to the host UC Davis (194.375) and No. 5 California (196.950). Cornell is now 4-3 on the season.

This is the first time since 2022 Cornell has faced a ranked team competing against California. The Big Red had one top five finisher in Sydney Beers on the vault with a 9.800 and finished fifth in the all-around (38.800).

BARS

The Big Red started the afternoon on the bars where Morgen Shambo tied for tenth in the with a team-high 9.725. Natalia Tehrani set her season-high mark on the apparatus with a 9.675. The team finished with 47.950 on the first apparatus.

BEAM

Mikayla Burton had a stunning appearance on the beam with a season-high score of 9.775 to tie for ninth.

FLOOR

Cornell had three gymnasts in the top 10 on the floor and was the Big Red's highest scoring event with 48.875. Beers and Avery Byun each scored a 9.800 to tie for sixth. This was Byun's season-high mark on the apparatus. Addy Rothstein recorded a 9.775 to tie for ninth.

VAULT

Beers led the team on the last apparatus of the night with a 9.800 to place fifth, Cornell's highest placement of the day. Byun was also in the top 10 with a score of 9.750.

The Big Red will be closer as they travel to the University of Bridgeport on Saturday Jan 25. at 5 p.m.
