BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Cornell gymnastics placed first in with a team score of 191.800 at the Bridgeport Quad on Saturday night.
The Big Red took first place against West Chester (191.800), Bridgeport (190.525) and Centenary (185.725). Cornell is now 7-3 on the season.
The Big Red had multiple top marks as Sydney Beers won the vault and bars, Avery Byun finished second in the all-around and floor and Anne MacKenzie tied for second on the beam.
BARS
The Big Red started the afternoon on the bars where Beers had the top mark of 9.700 while Dahlia Jhaveri tied her career-best mark of 9.600 to tie for fifth.
BEAM
Freshman MacKenzie made her Big Red debut on the beam with a score of 9.700 to tie for second. Natalia Tehrani followed up with a score of 9.650 to tie for fifth.
FLOOR
Byun shined on the floor with a score of 9.800, tied for highest individual score for the Big Red on the night. Michaela DeFrancisco, Cami Whitaker and Josie Moylan tied for ninth on the floor each scoring 9.725. The floor has consistently been Cornell's highest scoring apparatus, tonight being not different with a total score of 48.625.
VAULT
Beers led the team on the last apparatus of the night with a 9.800 to take the crown. Byun was also in the top 10 with a score of 9.750. DeFrancisco put up a big vault of 9.750 to take third place.
