ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's tennis team will kick off its 2025 Ivy League season when it meets #71 Columbia on Saturday, March 29 at 12 p.m. at Reis Tennis Center. The Big Red will put its unbeaten (5-0) home record on the line against the Lions.
The Big Red brings a 9-3 record into the weekend and has won three in a row and eight of its last nine matches following a 7-0 sweep of Rochester on March 23. Three Big Red players own eight singles wins with sophomore
Michelle Ryndin posting an 8-3 mark while seeing a majority of her action at No. 1 singles. She enters the weekend having won five straight. Both
Sage Loudon (8-6) and
Andrea Martinez De Los Rios (8-2) have matched Ryndin's win total, while three others have six or more wins.
Columbia moved to No. 71 in the latest ITA national rankings thanks to its 8-6 record entering Wednesday's home matchup with Denver. Head coach Ilene Weintraub has a 185-148 record since taking over the program in 2008. Freshman Malak El Allami sports a 17-10 overall record at No. 1 singles to lead the team.
Cornell leads the all-time series 20-19, though the Lions have won consecutive games. The Big Red dropped a 4-2 contest to No. 38 Columbia last season in New York City. Cornell's last win in the series came in 2022, a 4-3 Big Red victory in Ithaca.
