Cornell jumped out to an early 5-3 lead just two minutes into the contest, but Princeton went on to score nine unanswered points over the next five minutes as it went up 12-5. The Big Red responded with a jumper by Vlasic, a pair of free throws by Munson and a 3-pointer by Fedorowicz to pull within two points, 14-12, as the 13:07 mark, but that would be as close as it would get for the remainder of the half.
Krystal Hill and Downs combined for the Tigers next 12 points as Princeton pushed its lead back to double figures, 26-14, with eight minutes remaining in the first half. A trey by Fedorowicz, followed by a jumper from
Shannan Scarselletta, opened a 10-2 scoring run for the Big Red, as it pulled back within four points, 28-24, at the 4:06 mark. Unfortunately, the Tigers closed the half with a 9-3 scoring run of its own to take the 37-27 lead into half time.
Princeton extended its lead to 15 points early in the second half before Munson took control on the low post and scored five of Cornell's next seven points to make it a 43-35 game at the 13:25 mark.
A pair of free throws by Hill and a jumper by Allgood restored the Tigers 10-point lead a minute later. From there, Princeton locked up the game, eventually going up by 20 points with less than four minutes to play as it rolled to the 75-56 victory.
The Big Red is back in action tomorrow as it attempts to “Pack the House” against Penn at Newman Arena at 7 p.m.
