DOVER, Del. -- Senior Erica Gaeta hit a three-run walk-off home run with two outs, one of two Big Red big flies in the seventh inning, to help Cornell softball rally for a 9-8 win over Bucknell on Saturday at game one of the Epilesy Awareness Tournament at Delaware State. Game two and all of Sunday's action was canceled due to rain. Cornell improved to 9-10 with the victory.

Gaeta's home run capped a rally from an 8-4 deficit entering the final frame, as Erin Belles also slammed a two-run homer in the inning to give Cornell life. Gaeta's two-out bomb to centerfield scored Jenny Edwards and Lauren Bucolo, both of whom singled with two outs after Belles tagged her second long fly of the season. For Gaeta, it was her first homer of the year.

Four different Big Red players had multiple hits in the contest, including Edwards, Bucolo and Kristen Towne, the second, third and fourth place hitters. In all, Cornell collected 15 hits, the third time in five games it had posted at least 13.

It was the second time Cornell had rallied, as Bucknell jumped out by scoring four runs in the top of the first before the Big Red eventually caught them at 4-4 in the fifth innings. The Bison had struck for two runs in both the sixth and seventh to look as though it would take home the victory before Cornell's big bats came alive in the seventh.

Lauren Marx picked up the win in game one by closing the door on the Bison, who had already scored two runs in the seventh.

Cornell will open Ivy League play against defending conference champion Harvard on Friday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at Niemand*Robison Softball Field.
