CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Freshman
Lizzie Stewart finished in second place in A Flight Singles at the Harvard Invitational over the weekend. Stewart was defeated in Sunday's final against Harvard's Ellen Jang-Milsten, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Also in A Flight Singles this weekend, sophomore
Alexandra D'Ascenzo defeated a seeded opponent in the first round before being eliminated in the quarterfinals. Sophomore
Marika Cusick also advanced to the quarterfinals before being ousted, and freshman
Priyanka Shah suffered a first-round loss against the bracket's top seed.
In B Flight Singles, freshman
Madison Stevens advanced furthest for the Big Red with a trip into the semifinals before a loss to eventual champion Sylvia Li, of Harvard. Freshman
Allegra Hanlon made it to the quarterfinals, and sophomore
Kristin Quill was spilled in the first round by a seeded opponent. Cornell went 1-3 in Doubles, with the team of Shah and Stewart registering the lone victory before bowing out in the quarterfinals.
The tournament wrapped up the fall portion of Cornell's schedule. The Big Red will return to action in January, with a pair of matches at Dartmouth — the first against Mississippi State at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
