Big Red Headlines
Cornell continued its onslaught in the attacking zone over the weekend, dispatching Columbia 18-12 in the Big Apple. The Big Red got off to an uncharacteristically slow start on Saturday. Playing in cool and drizzly conditions at Robert K. Kraft Field, the Lions tallied 19 seconds into the contest and went on to score four of the first five goals in the contest. Cornell righted the ship after Head Coach Jenny Graap called a timeout to reorganize. The Big Red tallied the next four scores, going on to take an 8-7 lead at the break. The squad continued its roll into the second half, scoring twice in quick succession out of the break to widen the lead. Another four-goal run later in the second stanza sealed the team's second Ivy League victory in as many tries this season. Emily Tripodi added another impressive performance to her stellar week, leading all players with five points (1g-4a). Amie Dickson added her third hat trick of the season, while Joey Coffy collected her first career hat trick with a late-goal to cap Cornell's scoring.

Orange Headlines
Syracuse rebounded from two consecutive losses against nationally ranked foes Boston College and current #1 Maryland to post a 2-0 week this past week on a Florida swing. First, the Orange dropped #5/6 Florida in a 14-13 barnburner in Gainsville. The squad also tallied a one-goal victory over Harvard in DeLand, Fla. on Saturday, holding off the Crimson over the final 12 minutes to preserve an 11-10 victory. The Orange are currently ranked fifth in both major polls. The Syracuse scoring is powered by the junior duo of Halle Majorana (21g-14a-35pts) and Kayla Treanor (25g-7a-32pts).

The Series Against Syracuse...
Cornell trails the all-time series with Syracuse, posting a 4-13 overall record against the Orange. The team's first met during Jenny Graap's first season with the Big Red in 1998 with Cornell taking an 8-7 decision. The Big Red is still searching for its first victory in the Carrier Dome, going 0-8 there all-time.

Last Season's Matchup...
Cornell had a valient comeback effort fall just short in last season's matchup between the two squads at Schoellkopf Field. The then-first ranked and eventual National Runner-Up Orange shutout Cornell 4-0 in the opening half of play. Lindsay Toppe tallied three straight times out of the break to pull within one-goal. Rachel Moody would add a pair, but it would not be enough, as the teams would trade tallies with the game ending 7-5. Kayla Treanor paced the scoring for the Orange with a hat trick.

Historic Offensive Output
Cornell's 22 goal output against Binghamton left an indelible mark as one of the program's all-time best offensive games. The 22 goals tied a single-game high for the Big Red; equaling a March 20, 2013 victory at Jacksonville (22-13) and a May 1, 1994 victory vs. Rutgers (22-11). The 19 goal margin of victory was the second highest in program history, falling just one goal short of equaling the top mark; a 21-1 victory over William Smith in the season finale of the program's inaugural season in 1972. Other 20+ goal performances include a 21-7 victory over Canisius (3/13/12) and a pair of 20-6 victories over Stanford (3/24/99 & 3/2/02).

Dynamite Defense
The Cornell defense has really been impressive through the first few weeks of the season. The Big Red has limited its opponents to seven or less goals in four out of the six games. Cornell allowed a season low three goals in last week's home contest against Binghamton.

Offensive Player of the Week
Junior attacker Emily Tripodi became the second Cornell player in as many weeks to garner recognition from the league office. She was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week after leading all League players with 11 points in two contests last week. She netted a season-high six points - including a career-high four goals - against Binghamton. She followed that performance with a five point (1g-4a) outing in the victory over Columbia. She is the first Big Red player to earn the recognition since Catherine Ellis.

Fine Feeds
Junior attacker Emily Tripodi has already established herself as one of the best creators in the history of the program. Her vision and lacrosse instincts are off-the-charts, allowing her to quickly diagnose defensive systems and how to best exploit them. Her presence was felt in a big way this past week, as she led the team with six assists this past week. She tied a season-high with four helpers in the victory over Columbia. The outing brought her tally to 70 assists for her career, bringing Tripodi into a tie with Allison Schindler (2003-06) for second on the program's all-time list.

Scoring Punch
Cornell leads the Ivy League as the top scoring offense. The squad has averaged nearly 16 goals per game and checks in with 94 goals through six contests this year. Not surprisingly, the Big Red also has registered the most shots and most shots on goal with 197 and 149 respectively. Possession has been the key, as Cornell has dominated the ball over vast stretches this season.

Fast Starters
Cornell has made a habit of starting quickly in games this season. The Big Red has held a lead at halftime in each of the six games this year. Possession has been the key, as Cornell has done an excellent job of establishing dominant time with the ball. The Big Red has outshot opponents 119-49 in the opening 30 minutes - 88-34 in shots on goal - while the team has more than doubled up opponents 53-25 in first half scoring.

Rookie Contributions
The talented freshman class has wasted no time in making an impact for the squad this season. All seven members of the rookie class have seen significant playing time. Taylor Reed leads the group with eight points (5g-3a), while Ida Farinholt ranks second with six points (4g-2a). Joey Coffy tallied her first hat trick in the victory over Columbia and checks in with five goals. Paige Craig also joined the mix with her first collegiate goal against Binghamton last week.

Dynamic Dickson
Sophomore Amie Dickson has really flourished in the first six games of the 2015 campaign. She has already eclipsed last season's total point output of 10, thanks to her career high six point performance against Colgate. She now has 16 goals and 11 assists on the year, while she also has made significant contributions throughout the stat sheet. Dickson currently leads the Ivy League in points (27), while she is tied for second in both goals and assists.

Strong on the Draw
Cornell has been absolutely relentless on the draw this season. The squad currently ranks first in the Ivy League with 15.33 draw controls per game, the seventh best mark in NCAA Division I. While the Big Red expected to be good in this area due to the return of draw control specialist Sarah Hefner, Amie Dickson and Maddie Kiep have been pleasant surprises. Dickson leads the squad with 22 draws, while Kiep has added 19 on the year. Dickson is third in the League, while Kiep ranks fifth among Ivy League players.

Up Next
Cornell will welcome Brown to Schoellkopf Field for the team's Ivy League home opener on Saturday, March 21. Opening draw is scheduled for 12 p.m.
