ITHACA, N.Y. – Flying high after a sweep of the West Coast trip through Northern California, Cornell will now return to Ivy League play when it heads to Hanover, N.H., to take on Dartmouth on Saturday.

Live Video (ILDN) Game Notes (PDF)Cornell Big Red HeadlinesCornell scored its signature victory of the season to-date on Tuesday evening when it blasted #13/9 Stanford 15-7 in Palo Alto. The victory was the first over a ranked team since March of 2013 when it dispatched #7 Penn State 13-12 in double-overtime. The Big Red blitzed the Cardinal with a five-goal run to open the game, while it held the third ranked offense in NCAA Division I scoreless through 21:05 to begin the game. Cornell took a 6-4 lead to the break, while it ran away with the second half, outpacing Stanford 9-3 in scoring after the break. Junior
Emily Tripodi had a huge game with a career-high seven points, netting a hat-trick and adding four assists. Sophomore
Catherine Ellis also scored four goals for the third time this season in a five-point overall effort. The story was the defense, as Cornell was able to rattle the powerful Cardinal attack, with Stanford finishing with 12 turnovers. The win gave Cornell an impressive sweep on the West Coast road trip.
Big Green HeadlinesDartmouth has gotten off to a difficult start to this season, as the squad enters the weekend still searching for its first victory of the season. Despite the losing streak, the Big Green has been a difficult out for teams this season, as the squad has lost its last two matches by a combined three goals. Dartmouth has gone 0-3 in League play, as it has gone through the most difficult stretch of the Ivy schedule. The Big Green fell to both Princeton 8-5 and Penn by a 10-5 margin. In the squad's most recent contest, it used a 5-2 run to pull within one goal, setting up a late-game opportunity to tie the score against Harvard. Dartmouth did get off one final chance as time expired, but the shot was swallowed up by Harvard keeper Kelly Weis to keep the Big Green winless.
The Series Against Dartmouth...Cornell trails the overall series with Dartmouth by a fairly wide 7-30 margin. The Big Green have been a thorn in the side of the Big Red with the former holding a 13-4 record during
Jenny Graap's tenure.
Last Season's Matchup...Cornell downed Dartmouth 11-10 in double overtime last season at Schoellkopf Field. Dartmouth held the slim 5-4 lead at half, but Cornell outpaced the Big Green by one in the second to take the game to overtime. Both team's marked a pair in the first overtime, before
Lindsay Toppe netted the game-winner with 1:17 left in the second overtime.

Signature WinWith the dominating performance against Stanford, Cornell notched a signature win to add to its increasingly impressive resume. The Big Red leapt out to an early 5-0 lead and put together a decisive second half to pull away for the win. Cornell now is ranked fifth in the competer rankings by Lax Power, while its RPI is now ninth.
Historic Offensive OutputCornell recorded 22 goals earlier in the season against Binghamton to equal the program's all-time record for single-game scoring. The Big Red did one better on Sunday against Cal, scoring 23 goals in break the program record, which it had equaled three times previously. The team also equaled the 2012 Big Red as the only two teams in program history to score two 20+ goal games in a single season. Overall, there have been seven 20+ goal games in the program's 44 year history: March 20, 2012 at Jacksonville (22-13), March 13, 2012 vs. Canisius (21-7), May 1, 1994 vs. Rutgers (22-11) and a pair of 20-6 victories over Stanford in 1999 and the other in 2002.
League LeadersCornell ranks among the Ivy League's best in sevaral categories this year. The squad leads the League in scoring and draw controls. The team also ranks among the top 20 program's in NCAA Division I in scoring defense, although it trails Penn. The Big Red's possession dominance has fueled a stark advantage in scoring chances.
Offensive Player of the WeekSenior
Lindsay Toppe became the third Cornell player to be recognized in the Ivy League weekly awards when she was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The Big Red's top attacker had a monster game in Cornell's record breaking 23-6 victory over California on Sunday afternoon. She equaled a career-high with seven goals, as all seven of her attempted shots found the back of the net. She went a perfect 2-for-2 in free positions, while she equaled a career-high with the seven tallies.
Strong on the DrawCornell has been absolutely relentless on the draw this season. The squad currently ranks first in the Ivy League with 13.80 draw controls per game, tied for the 15th best mark in NCAA Division I. While the Big Red expected to be good in this area due to the return of draw control specialist
Sarah Hefner,
Amie Dickson and
Maddie Kiep have been pleasant surprises. Dickson leads the squad with 37 draws, while Kiep has added 23 on the year. Dickson is tied for third in the League, while Kiep is tied for seventh among Ivy League players. Hefner is 10th in the League with 23. She broke the program record for draws in the game against Cal.
