CANTON, N.Y. — The women's squash team sailed to a 9-0 victory Saturday at St. Lawrence. Eight of the nine matches were decided in three sets.
Cornell (4-3), which is ranked eighth in the country by the College Squash Association, improved to 9-0 all-time against 21st-ranked St. Lawrence (2-9). This is the Big Red's eighth straight sweep of the Saints.
The middle third of the order —
Emma Uible (No. 4),
Charlotte Knaggs (No. 5) and
Reut Odinak (No. 6) — each surrendered just six total points in their respective matches. Sophmore Michèle Garceau had to work a little harder for her third victory of the season from the No. 1 spot, staving off her opponent for a 9-11, 11-4, 11-1, 6-11, 11-8 to complete the Big Red's sweep.
The Big Red competes in the Yale Round Robin next weekend, opening up on Saturday against #9 Drexel and #5 Stanford before wrapping up the trip with a Sunday match against #13 George Washington.
