Box Score (PDF)

ALBANY, N.Y. --- Senior co-captain Emily Tripodi tied the program record for career assists as Cornell women's lacrosse knocked off No. 19 Albany, 9-5, on Saturday afternoon at John Fallon Field. Junior Amie Dickson led the Big Red with three goals and an assist, while sophomore Taylor Reed posted a career-high three points, scoring twice and adding a helper.

The Great Danes got on the board first, with Alie Jimerson scoring Albany's first goal of the season 1:56 into the game, but the Big Red responded with an extended possession and a goal of its own. From behind the net, senior Emily Tripodi fed sophomore Taylor Reed, who beat Courtney Henderson low to knot the score at one 4:35 into the first half.

Albany regained the lead at 7:46 with Dakota Savitcheff's shot from in close. Cornell would once again answer, with senior Olivia Mattyasovszky picking up her third goal of the season with a high shot from the right side off a pass from junior Amie Dickson.

Reed then gave Cornell its first lead of the game, making a move around the defender and putting away a shot from the right side. Dickson pushed the lead to two just 1:20 later, taking a feed from Tripodi and beating Henderson into the left side of the net. The assist was the 91st of Tripodi's career, tying the program record.

Sophomore Anna Baumeister gave the Big Red a 5-2 lead just 27 seconds into the second half on a free-position shot, cutting in and making a move to the right side of the net. Dickson got her second of the day just 28 seconds later, racing in from beyond the fan and tucking a shot into the left side of the net.

Freshman Tomasina Leska netted her second goal of the season, sending a shot across the net and into the right side as she was falling to the ground for a 7-2 Big Red lead with just over 26 minutes to go.

The Great Danes then scored three consecutive goals on shots from Emily Mizer, Savitcheff and Julie Cryderman to pull within two. But Cornell added two late goals, one from Leska with 1:27 left and one from Dickson to complete the hat trick with 24 seconds left.

Junior goaltender Renee Poullott finished with eight saves.

The Big Red returns home to Schoellkopf Field to open Ivy play with a 1 p.m. faceoff with Yale set for March 5.
