• In both games, senior
Hanna Bunton played the role of hero, pulling the Big Red even against the Tigers with 1:02 to play and then scoring the game-winner against the Bobcats just 10 seconds into overtime.
• The three points in the season series with Princeton marks the most since the 2012-13 season and the win over Quinnipiac – ranked #9/8 at the time of the game – was the first win over the Bobcats since February 2015.
• On Tuesday, Jan. 10, Cornell earned a 7-2 win over Syracuse in the final non-conference game of the year.
• Bunton leads the team in points (6-10—16) while freshman
Kristin O'Neill scored two goals against Quinnipiac and now leads the team with nine and is second to Bunton in points (9-5—14).
• Senior goaltender
Paula Voorheis, who is 5-4-1 in her 10 starts, is second in the nation in save percentage (.954) and third overall in goals against average (1.40) while sophomore
Marlène Boissonnault is 10th overall in goals against average (1.73).
About Colgate
• The Raiders are coming off of the first two games of 2017, with both ending in losses. First was a shutout loss, 2-0, to Quinnipiac on Friday and then, despite outshooting the Tigers in all three periods, a 5-1 game on Saturday.
• After going 5-0 in the first five conference games, Colgate is 1-4-1 in its last six, with losses coming against Princeton (7-2, 5-1) and Quinnipiac (3-1, 2-0) and sits in sixth place in the standings, three points back from Cornell.
• The Raiders have the best penalty-kill unit in the nation with a 93.1 kill percentage and the third-best power-play unit, with a 19.3 conversion rate.
• Jessie Eldridge leads the Raiders in points (9-20—29) while five other skaters have at least 15 points each.
• Julia Vandyk has played all but three games in goal, posting a 13-5-2 record on the strength of a .923 save percentage, a 1.95 goals against average, and three shutouts.
The Series with Colgate
• When the teams met on Nov. 1, they played two scoreless periods before combining for three goals in the final frame.
Kristin O'Neill put Cornell up 1-0 just 27 seconds into the third only to see Lauren Wildfang tie the game with under seven minutes to play and then Cat Quirion scored the game-winner with 1:04 left on the clock.
• It was just Colgate's second win against Cornell in the last 20 games. The Big Red still holds an overall series lead of 35-13-4 (and is 16-3-2 in the last 20 games).
About Head Coach Doug Derraugh '91
• Now in his 12th season directing the Cornell women's hockey program in 2016-17,
Doug Derraugh amassed a 202-126-28 record in his first 11 seasons as the head coach of the Big Red, with his 200th win coming in the form of a 4-2 win last year against Yale.
• Cornell has made the ECAC Hockey Tournament each of the last nine seasons, won the tournament four of the last seven years and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in five of those seasons.
• Derraugh guided the Big Red to the national title game in his fifth season and back-to-back-to-back NCAA Frozen Four appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
• He led the team to five consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in program history in 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-2014.
The Fastest Finish
• Senior
Hanna Bunton's goal just 10 seconds into overtime on Saturday against Quinnipiac not only secured Cornell two points but also marked the fastest overtime goal cross all divisions of men's and women's college hockey this season.
Freshmen Finesse
• When
Kristin O'Neill scored her first goal of the game against Quinnipiac on Jan. 14, she was assisted on the goal by classmates
Amy Curlew and
Jaime Bourbonnais.
• It marked the first time this season that one of the Big Red's goals featured three points by three rookies.
Power-Play Prowess
• Against Providence on Jan. 7, Cornell's final three goals came on the power-play and the Big Red finished the game 3-of-7 on the man-advantage.
• The only other game on record in program history in which Cornell scored three-straight power-play goals came last year in a 4-0 win over Vermont and in both instances, sophomore
Pippy Gerace tallied the third goal.
Truly Special Teams
• Cornell is one of four teams in that country that ranks in the top 10 in both penalty-kill rate and power-play conversion, with the Big Red sitting fifth and seventh, respectively, in both categories with Colgate, Boston College, and Minnesota being the other three schools.
• The Big Red penalty-kill unit had a 19-straight penalty-kill streak snapped in the first period against Syracuse on Jan. 10 but has yet to give up multiple power-play goals in a game this year.
• Colgate and Boston College are the only two teams to multiple power-play goals against Cornell since the beginning of the 2015-16 season.
Home, Sweet Home
• The game against Colgate – Cornell's sixth in 11 days – marks the end of an eight-game home stand for the Big Red, which is the longest stretch of games played at Lynah in program history.
• The Big Red is 9-1-1 at Lynah Rink this year and is 119-67-16 at home all-time under head coach
Doug Derraugh.
Many Goals, Many Scorers
• It was truly a team effort in the Big Red's wins over Providence and Syracuse, with five different players notching goals in the 5-1 win over Providence on Jan. 7 and seven different players finding the net in the 7-2 win over Syracuse on Jan. 10.
• The last time five different players scored in a game was on Jan. 13, 2015, in a 6-2 win over Boston University.
• The last time seven different players scored in a game came on Nov. 1, 2011 during a 9-2 win over Syracuse.
Balancing Act
• Cornell had 13 different players earn at least one point in its 7-2 win over Syracuse, marking the first time since an Oct. 28, 2011 9-0 win over Yale that the team had at least 13 different players contribute to the scoresheet.
• Earning her first career point in the game was senior goaltender
Paula Voorheis, who tallied an assist on the Big Red's second goal of the game.
• It was the first time that a Cornell goaltender earned a point since Lauren Slebodnick '15 assisted on a goal in the last game of the 2013-14 season, a 3-2 loss to Mercyhurst in the NCAA Quarterfinal.
Don't Fall Behind the Big Red
• Cornell is 7-0-1 this season when leading after one period and 9-0-1 when leading after two periods.
• The team has scored first in 12 games this season, going 10-1-1 in those contests.
Points at Premium
• Cornell came out of this past weekend with three conference points, which moved the team up to fifth overall in the conference with 16 points and a 7-2-2 record.
• The team sits three points ahead of Colgate (6-4-1) but remains four points out of third place where Princeton (9-4-2) and Quinnipiac (9-4-2) are deadlocked, six back from second-place St. Lawrence (10-1-1) and seven back from first-place Clarkson (11-0-1).
• Cornell still has two games to play against Clarkson and St. Lawrence.
• The top four teams in the conference will host the best-of-three quarterfinal series in the final weekend of February.

Short-handed Success
• Freshman
Kristin O'Neill tallied her third short-handed goal of the season on Nov. 18 against Quinnipiac, tying a program season record and putting her in a three-way tie for the national lead.
