GAME NOTES: Cornell | Clarkson | St. Lawrence

About the Big Red
• Cornell escaped Tuesday night's conference battle against Colgate with a 2-1 win on the strength of power-play goals from seniors Kaitlin Doering and Hanna Bunton. The Big Red went 2-of-6 on the man-advantage against a Raiders team that entered the game ranked first in the nation with a 93.1 killing percentage.
• Last weekend, Cornell earned three ECAC Hockey points with a 1-1 overtime tie with Princeton on Jan. 13 and a 3-2 overtime win over Quinnipiac on Jan. 14. In both games, Bunton played the role of hero, pulling the Big Red even against the Tigers with 1:02 to play and then scoring the game-winner against the Bobcats just 10 seconds into overtime.
• The three points in the season-series with Princeton marks the most since the 2012-13 season and the win over Quinnipiac – ranked #9/8 at the time of the game – was the first win over the Bobcats since Feb. 2015.
 • Bunton leads the team in points (7-10—17) while freshman Kristin O'Neill leads the team with nine goals and is second to Bunton in points (9-5—14).
• Senior goaltender Paula Voorheis, who is 6-4-1 in her 10 starts, is second in the nation in both save percentage (.954) and goals against average (1.36) while sophomore Marlène Boissonnault is 10th overall in goals against average (1.73).

• Clarkson has both the best conference power-play, converting 32.7 percent of the time, and offense, averaging 5.17 goals per game.
• Cayley mercer leads the team in points (13-20—33) and three other players over the 20 point threshold in Genevieve Bannon (10-18—28), Michaela Pejzlova (9-15—24), and Rhyen McGill (24-6—17).
• Shea Tiley has seen the majority of play in net for the Knights, going 14-3-4 while posting a .920 save percentage, 1.78 goals against and one shutout

The Series with Clarkson
• It was Clarkson that knocked Cornell out of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals last season with a two-game sweep in Potsdam to extend an unbeaten streak against the Big Red to four games. Cornell's last win against the Knights came in an upset win, 3-1, in the 2015 ECAC Hockey semifinal round in Postdam.
• Cornell holds an all-time series lead of 23-15-4.

About St. Lawrence
• St. Lawrence earned four points in the ECAC Hockey standings on Friday and Saturday with wins over Brown (7-2) and Yale (4-1), respectively, to take hold of second place in ECAC Hockey with 21 points.
• The Saints opened 2017 on Jan. 7 with 5-2 loss to Merychurst – just the third time all season that the team has allowed more than three goals in a game – before recovering for a 3-2 win the following day.
• Grace Harrison has backstopped St. Lawrence to the second-best team defense in the nation (1.36) and the best in the conference (1.00). The sophomore has gone 15-2-2 while posting a .927 save percentage, 1.47 goals against average and seven shutouts, four of which came in conference play.

• Cornell holds a slight edge in the all-time series with a 34-33-6 record against St. Lawrence.

About Head Coach Doug Derraugh '91
• Now in his 12th season directing the Cornell women's hockey program in 2016-17, Doug Derraugh amassed a 202-126-28 record in his first 11 seasons as the head coach of the Big Red, with his 200th win coming in the form of a 4-2 win last year against Yale.
• Cornell has made the ECAC Hockey Tournament each of the last nine seasons, won the tournament four of the last seven years and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in five of those seasons.
• Derraugh guided the Big Red to the national title game in his fifth season and back-to-back-to-back NCAA Frozen Four appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
• He led the team to five consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in program history in 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-2014.

Truly Special Teams
• Cornell is one of four teams in that country that ranks in the top 10 in both penalty-kill rate and power-play conversion, with the Big Red sitting ninth and fourth, respectively, in both categories with Colgate, Boston College, and Minnesota being the other three schools.
•  The Big Red penalty-kill unit had a 19-straight penalty-kill streak snapped in the first period against Syracuse on Jan. 10 but has yet to give up multiple power-play goals in a game this year.
• Colgate and Boston College are the only two teams to multiple power-play goals against Cornell since the beginning of the 2015-16 season.

The Fastest Finish
• Senior Hanna Bunton's goal just 10 seconds into overtime on Jan. 14 against Quinnipiac not only secured Cornell two points but also marked the fastest overtime goal – men's or women's – in all of college hockey this season.
• Bunton's 10 second tally tied for the fastest goal in NCAA Division I women's hockey in the past six seasons, as Brianna Decker scored 10 seconds in overtime for Wisconsin on Nov. 10, 2010.

Pushing the Right Bunton(s)
Hanna Bunton has scored in three-straight games for the Big Red, which matches a career-long goal-streak from last season.
• Bunton has also scored two-straight game-winning goals and now sits in sole possession of eighth all-time in program history with 11 career winning tallies.
• Cornell is 4-0-1 this season when Bunton finds the net.

Power-Play Prowess
• Against Providence on Jan. 7, Cornell's final three goals came on the power-play and the Big Red finished the game 3-of-7 on the man-advantage.
•  The only other game on record in program history in which Cornell scored three-straight power-play goals came last year in a 4-0 win over Vermont and in both instances, sophomore Pippy Gerace tallied the third goal.

Points at Premium
• Cornell enters the weekend in fifth place in the conference with 18 points and an 8-2-2 record.
• The team sits five points ahead of Colgate (6-5-1) but remains two points out of third place where Princeton (9-4-2) and Quinnipiac (9-4-2) are deadlocked and each one point back from second-place St. Lawrence (10-1-1) and three back from first-place Clarkson (11-0-1).
• The top four teams in the conference will host the best-of-three quarterfinal series in the final weekend of February.

•  Of the team's 47 goals, 21 have come from a rookie class that has also put up 46 of the team's 119 points and 25 of the team's 72 assists.
