Cornell scored just 36 seconds into the game on a goal from
Jake McCulloch, but just over three minutes later Korzelius knotted the game at 1-1. Both teams exchanged long offensive possessions that ended in saves before Dowiak scored off a pass from Fletcher to open up a Big Red blitz in which the visiotors scored six unanswered over the final 6:45 of the quarter, including a buzzer-beater by Dowiak to make it 7-1 at the end of the first quarter.

Some sloppy play early in the third quarter led to back-to-back goals by Dartmouth, but interim head coach
Peter Milliman called a timeout and the team responded with a Fletcher goal just 32 seconds later to end the Big Green run.
Milliman went to the bench midway through the third and Cornell took the 19-7 lead into the final break before rolling to the 22-11 final.
