About the Big Red
- Heading into a five-game road-stretch to close out 2019, the Big Red was voted third, for the fourth week in a row, by the USCHO Division I Women's Poll.
- For its opening weekend, Cornell found two shutout victories against #8 Robert Morris on Oct. 25, 6-0, and Oct. 26, 3-0. Continuing its success, the Big Red opened ECAC Hockey play with a 1-0 win against Quinnipiac on Nov. 1 and a 3-1 win over #6 Princeton, Nov. 2. For its first road trip, Cornell found a 4-1 victory against St. Lawrence on Nov. 8 and a 1-1 tie against #6 Clarkson (Nov. 9). Returning home, Cornell scored 15 goals with a 6-0 win over Yale (Nov. 15) and a 9-1 victory against Brown (Nov. 16).
- Senior defender Jaime Bourbonnais and junior forward Maddie Mills lead the team with 12 points each. Mills has five goals and seven assists while Bourbonnais has one goal and 11 assists. Both Mills and Bourbonnais have earned points in all games except one (at St. Lawrence).
- Senior forward Amy Curlew follows in third place with 10 points on eight goals and two assists. Curlew scored five goals in the last two games, earning her first career hat trick against Brown on Nov. 16.
- Lindsay Browning became the first goalie in program history to open the season with three shutouts when the team beat Quinnipiac, 1-0. In just eight games, Browning has 145 saves for a .980 save percentage. The junior goalie has let just three shots past her and into the net for a .39 goals against average.

Last Week in Review
- As the Big Red returned home, Cornell hosted an Ivy League weekend, playing Yale on Friday, Nov. 15 and Brown on Saturday, Nov. 16.
- On Friday, Cornell found a 6-0 victory against the Bulldogs. Kristin O'Neill and Maddie Mills led the team with three points each, while Amy Curlew and Gillis Frechette each scored two goals.
- Cornell then played Brown for a 9-1 victory. The Big Red scored six goals in the second period, during which Curlew earned her first career hat trick. Jaime Bourbonnais led the defenders with three assists.

First Points
- With six freshmen joining the 2019-20 squad, there have been a couple of firsts in the past weekend.
- Sydney Breza notched her first collegiate point late in the second period against Brown on Nov. 16.
- Breza went on to score a goal of her own early in the third period against the Bears.
- In addition to collegiate firsts, there were three firsts on the season, all against Brown on Nov. 16.
- Junior Willow Slobodzian and sophomore Bella Kang scored their first goal on the season during the second period.
- Junior Joie Phelps earned her first point on the season with an assist in the second period.
About Syracuse
- After 15 games, the Orange is 3-11-1. Before starting CHA play on Nov. 1, Syracuse played four two-game series and two singles. The Orange dropped a nine game losing streak on Oct. 29 with a 5-0 win against Union. Syracuse had previously lost to #3 Clarkson (x2), #7 Boston College, #3 Northeastern (x2), Colgate and #6 Princeton. The Orange split its first conference weekend against RIT, losing on Nov. 1 but finding a 3-0 victory on Nov. 2. After falling to St. Lawrence on Nov. 16, Syracuse beat Penn State 3-1 on Sunday (Nov. 24) after finishing with a 1-1 tie on Saturday (Nov. 23).
- Sophomore forward Abby Moloughney leads the team with 11 points on one goal and ten assists. She notched her first goal, along with two assists, against Penn State on Sunday.
- Junior defender Jessica DiGirolamo follows closely with 10 points on five goals and five assists. She is 2-1-0 in conference play, with one goal against Penn State and RIT and one assist against RIT.
- Junior Allison Small leads the goalies with 593:52 and a .890 save percentage on 275 saves. Small has let in 34 goals for a 3.44 goals against average.
The Series vs Syracuse
- Tuesday's game will mark the 14th all-time meeting between the two schools. Cornell has dominated the series, which dates back to the 2009-10 season, as it owns a 12-1-0 record against Syracuse.
- Most recently, the Big Red and the Orange met up twice during the 2018-19 season. Opening its season, Cornell found a 4-1 victory at Lynah Rink before defeating Syracuse 5-2 in January in Syracuse, N.Y.
Two Peas in a Pod
- Micah Zandee-Hart and Kristin O'Neill will be serving as the team's captains for the second year.
- Zandee-Hart led the 2018-19 squad with 55 blocks, while also finishing third with 17 assists and sixth with 21 points.
- O'Neill led last year's team with 22 goals while finishing second in points (38) and tying for first in power-play goals (7).
Border Battle
- Out of the 28 players on the roster, 19 are from the United States while nine call Canada home.
- The Americans have representatives from Minnesota (5), California (2), New York (2), Massachusetts (2), Michigan (1), Iowa (1), Illinois (1), Pennsylvania (1), Virginia (1) and Connecticut (1).
- The Canadians on the roster come from five different provinces: Ontario (5), New Brunswick (1), Saskatchewan (1), British Columbia (1) and Newfoundland and Labrador (1).
About Head Coach Doug Derraugh
- Now entering his 15th season directing the Cornell women's ice hockey program in 2019-20, Doug Derraugh has brought the Big Red women to their place among the nation's elite.
- Derraugh has a 267-150-42 record in his first 14 seasons as the head coach of the Big Red, with his 200th coming in the form of a 4-2 win against Yale in 2016.
- Cornell has made the ECAC Hockey Tournament each of the last 12 seasons, won the tournament four of the last 10 years and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in seven of those seasons.
- The 2019 American Hockey Coaches Association National Coach of the Year guided the Big Red to the national title game in his fifth season and back-to-back-to-back NCAA Frozen Four appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Cornell returned to the NCAA Frozen Four in 2019 after finishing as National Quarter Finalists in 2013, 2014 and 2017.
- He led the team to five consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in program history in 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14.
About Associate Head Coach Edith Racine
- Edith Racine enters her first season as the associate head coach after serving as an assistant coach for 10 years prior.
- Under her direction, the Big Red has seen vast improvement among its goaltenders. During her time at Lynah, Racine has most notably coached Amanda Mazzota, Lauren Slebodnick, Paula Voorheis and Marlene Boissonnault.
- During her first season with the Big Red, Racine coached Mazzota to finish as the national leader in shutouts (11) in the 2009-10 season, breaking the Cornell single season record for both men's and women's ice hockey. Mazzota was also the national leader for goals against average (1.11) after the close of the 2010-11 season, as well as the runner-up in save percentage.
- Slebodnick finished her career with the top spot in Cornell history for career wins (68) and sixth-best goals against average in the nation during the 2012-13 season.
- Voorheis was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team in 2013-14. She finished her career after the 2016-17 campaign ranked second all-time in save percentage (.925) and saves (2,238) and third in goals against average (2.14).
- Most recently, Racine has coached Marlene Boissonnault to national success. Boissonnault finished her senior season (2018-19) ranked second in the nation, and first in the ECAC, in goals against average (1.64). Boissonnault was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week six times in her career (2x in 2018-19 and 4x in 2017-18). She finished the second-winningest goalie in program history with 56 wins.
