ITHACA, N.Y.- Nineteen members of the Big Red gymnastics team were named to the WCGA All-America Scholar Athlete honors, the WCGA announced Wednesday. Cornell was ranked 19th among 87 teams nationally that achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. The team earned a 3.69 with six gymnasts posting a perfect 4.0 GPA: Eva Phair, Macy Armstrong, Melanie Stone, Rachel Zun, Regina Walton and Victoria McMillan.
"The Cornell Gymnastics team continues to pursue excellence in the gym as well as the classroom," head coach Melanie Hall said. Their hard work and excellent time management helped them to, once again, achieve an outstanding GPA. It shows just how dedicated they are to making this team the best it can be. College is challenging on the best of days, but to be a student-athlete at an elite institution, takes a special kind of grit and I'm beyond proud to lead this team and be a part of their journey."
