Men’s Lightweight Rowing Vies for Matthews-Leonard Cup

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell University men's lightweight rowing team will play host to Penn and Harvard on Saturday, April 10, on the Cayuga Lake Inlet. The varsity-8 crews will compete for the Matthews-Leonard Cup.

THE MATTHEWS CUP: The Matthews Cup, placed in competition in 1938, is awarded to the winner of the varsity race in the dual regatta between Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania. Since 1988, Harvard has been a regular participant in the race, but is not eligible to win the Matthews Cup. Cornell has won the Matthews Cup 38 times, including the last 16 meetings, with Penn triumphing 27 times.

THE LEONARD CUP: The Leonard Cup is a points cup given to the winner of the majority of the 8+ races. At this time, complete Leonard Cup results are unavailable.
