ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 6 Cornell University men's heavyweight rowing team will open the spring season with a trip to No. 3 Harvard on Saturday, April 3, on the Charles River. Rowing will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the Varsity 8 race scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
CORNELL/HARVARD SERIES HISTORY: Despite having two of the oldest rowing programs in the country, the Big Red and Harvard have rowed in head-to-head competition just eight times, with last season's meeting breaking a 49-year drought. Harvard took the victory in 2010 to even the series at 4-4, after Cornell won the first two meetings in 1947 and 1948, as well as the last meetings previous to the 2010 revival in 1952 and 1961. The Crimson earned its first three victories in consecutive seasons from 1949-51.
