Women's Tennis Ends Run at Northeast Regionals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The last remaining Big Red women's tennis players were eliminated from the USTA/ITA Northeast Regions on Sunday.

Sophomore Alexandra D'Ascenzo was Cornell's last surviving competitor in singles, where she reached the Round of 32 before suffering a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Boston College's Jessica Wacnik on Sunday. Junior Dena Tanenbaum and freshman Lizzie Stewart advanced into the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket before being ousted by Columbia's Kanika Vaidya and Rima Asatraian, 8-5, on Sunday afternoon.

The Big Red will remain idle for two weeks before it wraps up its fall season with the Harvard Invitational from Nov. 7-9.
