PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior
Jordan Brail forced five games in his match and freshman
V. Luke Park II took an early lead in his, but the men's squash team ultimately suffered a 9-0 loss to Princeton on Sunday at Jadwin Gymnasium.
Cornell (6-11, 0-7 Ivy League), which entered the weekend ranked 15th in the Dunlop College Squash Rankings, wrapped up its league slate with just one match remaining in the regular season.
Brail fought tooth-and-nail at the No. 3 position, winning the second game and then taking the fourth in extra points. Newcomer Park won the first game at No. 7, but his opponent sprinted away from there to win in four. Sophomore
Jared Scherl did the same at No. 9, winning the first game before falling four.
With its positioning for the Hoehn Cup – the 'B' flight of the College Squash Association's national championships – presumably safe, the Big Red will have one more crack at a big upset when it takes on regional rival Rochester at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Belkin International Squash Courts in Ithaca, N.Y. The match with the eighth-ranked Yellowjackets it a make-up date after the originally scheduled tilt last Wednesday was postponed due to inclement weather.
