PRINCETON, N.J. – The women's squash team wrapped up its regular season with a 9-0 loss to Princeton on Sunday afternoon at Jadwin Gymnasium. At 10-6 overall and 2-5 in the Ivy League, Cornell figures to remain eighth in the Dunlop College Squash Rankings and qualify for the Howe Cup – the top flight of the College Squash Association's national championships – for a ninth consecutive season.
Princeton (13-1, 6-1) continued to show why it's a national contender this year, currently ranked No. 2 after momentarily unseating three-time defending national champion Harvard as No. 1 earlier this winter. The Tigers have now won all 26 meetings with the Big Red in the programs' histories.
Six of Sunday's scoring matches were decided in the minimum three games. Sophomore
Madison Miles had a strong showing at No. 6, coming up just short of a marathon 18-16 first game before clawing out a win in the third. Junior
Nghi Nguyen also won the third game of her match at No. 4, and senior
Margaux Losty won the second at No. 3.
Cornell will now await the final assignments for the national championships, with the Howe Cup scheduled to take place Feb. 16-18 in Boston.
