Men's Tennis Wraps Up Indian Wells Weekend With 4-0 Win

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – The men's tennis team wrapped up its weekend at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge with a seventh-place finish, thanks to a 4-0 victory over Idaho on Sunday at Indian Wells Tennis Garden courts.

The three-day event brought Cornell (8-7) into a field with seven other prominent programs with play running concurrently with the BNP Paribas Open – a long-running ATP Tour Masters 1000 event and Premier Mandatory event on the WTA Tour.

After losses to top-20 teams USC and Michigan in the first two days of play, the Big Red dominated Idaho on the final day. After cruising to the doubles point, Cornell wrapped up the match with three straight-set victories in singles. Sophomore Evan Bynoe won, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4 in his first action of the week. Senior David Volfson was bumped up to the No. 3 spot, answering with a 6-2, 6-0 win, and junior Lev Kazakov nailed down a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2.
