PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Cornell men's tennis team improved to 3-0 in Ivy League play after recording a 5-2 victory against Penn on Friday afternoon at Hamlin Tennis Center.
With the victory, Cornell (12-8, 3-0) will remain in first place in the league standings, joined by Harvard and Columbia after their victories on Friday against Yale and Princeton, respectively.
It's the 11th time in the last 12 Ivy League matches between the teams that Cornell has defeated Penn (16-9, 0-4), and the victory avenged a loss to the Quakers earlier this season at the ECAC Indoor Championships.
Cornell concludes the weekend with a 1 p.m. Sunday match against 50th-ranked Princeton (18-7, 2-1) at Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, New York. As the team's final home match of the season, the Big Red will hold a Senior Day ceremony to commemorate the final collegiate matches at Reis for
Jake Hansen and
David Volfson.
