ITHACA, N.Y. — The men's tennis team improved to 7-0 at home this season when it wrapped up a weekend sweep on Sunday with a victories of 4-0 over Yale and 7-0 against Niagara at Reis Tennis Center.
Cornell (11-8, 2-0 Ivy League) rolled to comfortable victories in both matches without dropping a single set. After rolling to three doubles wins against Yale (11-9, 0-3), the Big Red clinched with singles victories from juniors
Lev Kazakov (No. 2) and
Daniel Soyfer (No. 4), and sophomore
Eero Vasa (No. 5). Cornell has now won 10 of its last 12 meetings with Yale.
The Big Red then used a scaled-down lineup against Niagara (0-13), not conceding more than three games in any set across the board. Competing at No. 4, junior
Joseph McAllister won his first dual singles match of the season. Freshman
Konstantin Kirovski (No. 5) also won handily in his first appearance since Feb. 24.
Cornell concludes its regular season with four its last five matches on the road. That starts at 1 p.m. Friday with a visit to Penn before returning to Ithaca to take on Princeton at 1 p.m. Sunday at Reis.
